Haiku is a very short poem format following the traditional Japanese form of 3 lines of 17 syllables: 5/7/5. It is often about a moment in nature with a juxtaposition included on the third line. The less rigid Contemporary haiku also explores elements of human nature, culture and society, but the 5/7/5 form provides for a challenging creative expression of ideas.
